This is my dog, Jackson! He loves walking in the woods.

Hello! I’m Mary, and I draw! I’m a visual designer and illustrator in the Chicagoland area, and I graduated with a BFA from Columbia College Chicago in 2011.

I attended three different grade schools as a child, and so I know the importance of making—and maintaining—a good impression. I’ve always loved the arts, visual or performing, and nine years of playing the alto saxophone vaporized my stage fright. I’ve presented to teammates and senior executives alike, and I’m not afraid to go to bat for the team.

As a designer, I consider myself a teacher of sorts. My job is to take information, and turn it into a vision, into knowledge you can take and use. Wisdom you can pass on. At SHC, I’ve designed for all audiences that might come from such a large, varied corporation: customers, service technicians, retail associates, corporate employees, and executives.

I love learning about the subject matter I’m designing for; you’ll end up with an effective, impactful piece because I went out of my way to understand the material you’ve given me.

In addition to graphic design, I do a fair bit of writing; part of my role at SHC was as a scriptwriter for internal-facing videos, from training to corporate announcements. I provided voiceovers for many of our videos, and am always available to copyedit the scripts I didn’t write.

This is, of course, in addition to the illustration and writing I do in my free time. My other hobbies include cooking, gaming, traveling and finding new and exciting places to take my dog, Jackson.

Please take your time and look through my portfolio.
